This project of Screening Intellectual Disability in school children of 6 to 9 years old in Nunavik is being supported by Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services and Kativik School Board and local Health services. The project will take place during the school year 2008-2009. It will involve circulating in the 14 communities. This procedure should be an important step to provide specific services to these students, their teachers and their parents. All evaluation will be done either in Inuktitut, English or French depending on the mother tongue of the students.

The project has the purpose of systematically screening 6 to 9 years old children at risk of Intellectual Disability. It is by an early detection in the school environment that adaptation of teaching and specific supports to the child, the teacher or parents, may have maximum preventive and adaptive effects.
